Dark shadows enveloping the jagged black rocks
on the shore
the sky is robin’s egg blue
look up
the clouds swiftly drift
windswept
they are late
for their meeting with the rain.
gray-blue ripples
scattering across the smooth surface,
shimmering .

the stress
the tension
as it stretches across the room
like a taut canvas
thinking
headaches
aching
toes
stretching
almost
